Gati conducts Uttarakhand’s first Walkability survey!

As per the report of United Nations, Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Population Division (2014), in 2050, two-thirds of the world population is expected to live in cities. At the same time, the opportunity to shift global energy systems onto a more sustainable path has never been greater. These developments challenge us to develop integrated sustainable solutions for economic, social and environmental problems, namely:

There’s a need to encourage the use of an optimal combination of modes of transport, including walking, cycling and private and public means of transportation, through appropriate pricing, spatial settlement policies and regulatory measures.

Keeping up with this view Gati Foundation initiated the Uttarakhand’s first of its kind walkability survey in the city of Dehradun. The survey’s sole objective was to evaluate the quality and nature of pedestrian services available in the city.
